Nicola's Scottish background means that she has always been inspired by the iconic image of the stag. This particular one is caught in the headlights, the future unknown. It is Nicola's hope that when the viewer looks at it they consider their own present moment. The original painting was done in oils and has been exhibited across the country but remains with its maker by choice!

ABOUT NICOLA MCCARTNEYNicola McCartney is an artist and academic. She is interested in the narratives between fairytales, women and animals. She is a lecturer at Central Saint Martin’s, has undertaken residencies overseas and at home.
In 2016 she was the lead artist for Yinka Shonibare MBE’s Guest Projects and her most inspiring project abroad was working with Palestinian refugees in Jordan, hosting art workshops for the local community.
